Hypnosis IBS: Hypnosis as Effective Treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Posted under Health on Sunday 2 August 2009

As of 1958, the American Medical Association (AMA) has approved and agreed that Hypnosis is a legitimate medical treatment. Through the use of Hypnosis, a certified hypnotist can lessen physical and psychological symptoms of various diseases such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS. This can be done by getting into the subconscious mind and change the way how a person consciously identifies his or her health problems.

Hypnosis is commonly believed as a therapy that can only influence the mind, but because mind and body cannot be separated, it establishes further proof that hypnosis can successfully lessen physical ailments. One example is a case of “spastic colon” or Irritable Bowel Syndrome where in there are a lot of testimonies regarding hypnosis’ effectiveness in alleviating IBS symptoms like pain and diarrhea, constipation, feeling of fullness or bloating and gas.

Fifteen years of intensive scientific research has proven Hypnosis as a harmless, effective and a low cost treatment for relieving almost all of the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Even the Chair of the National Women’s Health Network in Washington, DC, Adriane Fugh-Berman, MD, was overwhelmed by its efficiency and stated that Hypnosis should be the treatment of choice for IBS particularly those cases that do not respond anymore to conservative treatment.

The stress that people struggling from IBS can be reduced by hypnotherapy because it promotes rest, positive thinking and coping skills. Moreover, one will experience less anxiety and depression that were triggered by dealing with an incurable disorder. As a result, there will be a notable decrease in stress related attacks.

In contrast to what many people think, consciousness is not lost during hypnosis, it just turns into a more selective state and becomes aware of internal activities rather than external distractions. That is why the mind is highly receptive to suggestions and ideas that enhance positive thoughts and promote healing. Moreover, a lot of people describe that the real feeling of being hypnotized are satisfying, comfortable and exceptionally relaxing.

During the usual waking hours, the windows connecting the conscious mind to the subconscious is closed. However, any situation that induces relaxation can generate the alpha brain waves which prompt the windows to open. Normally, this occurs while we sleep and that results to dreams. In hypnotherapy, a similar state of relaxation will be induced while the client is awake and useful suggestions will be fed directly to the subconscious.

Fortunately, approximately ten percent of people are not affected by hypnosis. Therefore the lucky ninety percent of the population can tremendously benefit from using this therapy to alleviate symptoms not only of IBS but also of different illnesses as such allergy, asthma, irregular heartbeat, muscle spasms as well as neurologic diseases like Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy.

The Facts About Cancer

Posted under Health on Sunday 2 August 2009

Cancer has been a plague on humanity for a long time. Can you even imagine the impact this would have on our world if the suffering of so many people could be put to an end? Because we don’t fully understand exactly what causes cancer it means that we can only take certain precautions to avoid it.

First off it is a good idea to understand exactly what cancer is and try to ascertain whether it is hereditary or something you can acquire. This is what happens with a population of cells that increase in size by replication, similar to the amoeba.

The difference between a cancerous tumor an a benign one is that malignant tumors continue to grow whereas benign ones limit their growth an many of us live comfortably with them during out lives without even knowing. While it is not generally a young person’s disease, it can occur at any age. While smoking, chemicals and radiation for instance, can be the cancer trigger, it is the poison from these or other sources that transform body cells and create genetic abnormalities which grow and multiply.

For some people the problem lies not with any form of external poison although faults with their parents DNA or genetic makeup can result in a person being born with the diseased cells. Complex relationships between carcinogens and a person’s genetic makeup may explain why only some develop it after exposure to a known carcinogen.

Long term research has given a better picture of what cancer is and the study of cancer is one of the top ten diseases being researched throughout the world. We are always learning more about diseases and how they affect our bodies and minds. After all we all want to know more about why we contract cancer and how to avoid it.

Your regular diet could be putting you at long term risk from all kinds of diseases. People are generally eating too much of the wrong things such as an excess salt intake, too much saturated fat and certain dairy produce.

Cancer does not have any prejudice when it comes to invading a person’s body as it can strike anywhere. Some people can have cancer for several years before they have any symptoms. Nature has provided us a way to combat cancer and it comes from the apricot seed, therefore a patent can’t be implemented since the apricot seed is not a pharmaceutical and there is no money to be made. On the business side, cancer is huge money maker and the love of that is truly the root of deception, amongst other things. Chemo is basically poison and there are natural alternatives available that are being and will continue to be kept under wraps.

For the sake of your loved ones make changes in your diet where there needs to be changes. Include vitamin B17 which is a cancer killer in spite of the “quackery” label that has been placed on it. There is a way to live cancer free.

Joni Bell has many years of extensive study in the area of natural cancer prevention and treatment. He has numerous success stories of people being diagnosed living cancer free with use of alternative methods. Ask Joni Bell!

Do Not Avoid Exercise Training Because Of Asthma

Posted under Health on Sunday 2 August 2009

If you suffer from asthma, you probably think that you can’t do exercise training properly or safely. Contrary to what many think of this subject, there are ways that you can get in shape and exercise, even if you suffer from asthma.

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that is marked by characteristics such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. Asthma tends to occur with people who are genetically or environmentally predisposed to the condition.

Some of the triggers that may start or make an attack worse include exposure to allergens, viral respiratory infections, airway irritants, exercise training, and exposure to things such as dust mites or cockroaches.

You can prevent asthma attacks by doing the following:
1. Bathe your pets weekly.
2. Don’t smoke or permit smoking in your home.
3. When mold or pollen counts are high, you should stay inside with air conditioning.
4. Wash your bedding and any stuffed toys at least once per week in hot water.
5. Wash your hands every chance you get.
6. Get a flu shot.
7. Wear a scarf over your mouth and nose in the winter months.
8. Be proactive and know your triggers and how you should avoid them.
Now that you know a little more about asthma, you may be wondering where exercise fits in. As most doctors will tell you, you shouldn’t give up on sports or exercise at all. You just have to be smart about how you play and take special precautions to avoid attacks.

Almost all doctors agree that the best way to prevent attacks during exercise is to keep your inhaler and medication close by. You should never use the inhaler more than 3 times during a game or exercise session. If you are up the previous night with coughing and wheezing, it’s always best to go light with your exercise the next day.

For something known as IEA (Exercise Induced Asthma), the symptoms are somewhat different, in the fact that they appear after 6 - 10 minutes of exercise and will often be worse in cold or dry air.

If you have IEA, there are several activities that you can enjoy such as swimming, walking, biking, downhill skiing, and team based sports. There are many activities for you to choose from, to ensure you get the exercise you need as well.

Keep in mind that the condition of asthma isn’t “all in your head”, it is a real physiological medical treatment that will require treatment to prevent and treat. Even though your doctor will be your best friend in treating asthma, you are the one who can prevent your symptoms.

Always be smart, take your medication, and be proactive. Don’t let it put you in a life of misery - as you can enjoy exercise just like everyone else.

How Do I Know If My Child Has a Broken Bone?

Posted under Health on Sunday 2 August 2009

In almost all cases, it takes a significant force to break the larger bones of our bodies, such as the arms and legs, hips and shoulders. Falls, being hit by a heavy hard object and being involved in a moving vehicle accident are examples. The smaller and lighter bones of a child may even be broken by excessive force if a limb is held tightly while the child is moved abruptly.

Children’s bones are relatively soft compared to the harder, more brittle adult bones. Because of this, they tend to bend a little before breaking. This may cause the child’s bone to break on one side of the bone but not the other. Adult bones will usually break all the way through.

Many people are confused about the word break or broken and the word fracture. In reality, there is no difference between these terms in the medical profession. Officially, doctors use the word fracture for any broken bone no matter how minor, no matter how “hairline” or how horrendous the break may appear on the x-ray. When speaking to one another or when reporting the fracture in the patient’s medical record, doctors will describe the fracture’s characteristics so that any other doctor will understand and perfectly picture the break just by the description. The seriousness of the break will be obvious to them by this description, so proper care will then be ordered more easily and quickly.

If your child has fallen, twisted an ankle, or received other trauma that might have injured the bone, they will have significant pain that persists. It does not get very much better with time. There may also be an obvious deformity present. If the limb is bent, or angulated, it is broken; if near a joint, it may be dislocated. Some accidents cause both a fracture and a dislocation. Almost all fractures are accompanied by swelling. Check for pulses past the injury toward the end of the limb, or check to see that the blood quickly refills back in the skin after pressing or squeezing a finger or toe. A lack of circulation past the break is a true emergency that must be seen at the hospital emergency room right away.

First aid measures for injuries that may be fractures include immobilizing the limb or area of injury, elevating it above heart or hip level when possible, application of ice and giving acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) in the child’s normal dose as indicated on the package instructions. For the best pain control, you may give both acetaminophen and ibuprofen together as a starting dose. Remember though, acetaminophen is given every four hours and ibuprofen is given every six. Write down the times you give each or you will never be able to keep them straight! When you put ice on an injury, you must put a thin piece of material between the ice and the skin to prevent frostbite. Yes, it may surprise people to know that ice can freeze and damage the skin by causing frostbite. Frostbite is a serious skin injury. Avoid it.

If the injury looks like a fracture, there will be no question about it and you will need to take your child to an urgent care center or to the hospital emergency room. Many urgent care centers can x-ray and splint broken bones just like the hospital and they will be able to refer you to an orthopedic specialist for further care of the injury. This is the standard of care for most fractures whether seen in the urgent care center or in the ER.

If you are not sure whether there is a break, but the patient has persistent pain that just isn’t getting much better, and especially if they cannot use the injured part of the body, there may be a fracture and an examination by a physician is needed. This will probably involve ordering x-rays too. Inability to move the shoulder, elbow, wrist, finger, foot, ankle, or toe, or inability to put weight on a foot, ankle, or leg is a good indication that there may be a fracture. Immediate and significant swelling after the injury also raises suspicion of a fracture. Only an x-ray will be able make the determination.

Any major injury, or a failure in improvement of what you thought might have been a minor injury, should be evaluated by a health care provider.

Benefits Of Aromatherapy - Health Wonders Of Essential Oils

Posted under Health on Sunday 2 August 2009

Aromatherapy is the practice where essential oils are used to improve your mood or your health. This is a kind of alternative medicine that has been practiced by many for relaxation and in making you feel good.

Indeed, there are many other known benefits of aromatherapy aside from ‘feeling good,’ but how does the smell of these essential oils affect your mind and your emotions?

Once you are exposed to the aroma of the essential oils, the scent will travel from your nose to the part of the brain that controls your emotions, your moods and your memories. This part of the brain is called the limbic system, and when this is stimulated, it releases chemicals that will help you feel calm, relaxed and healed. One of the chemicals released when this part of the brain is stimulated is the endorphin known to have properties that eases pain.

Due to this, aromatherapy has been used to help relieve pain in some conditions like fibromyalgia, which is characterized my achy and painful muscles that are often accompanied by stiffness.

Researchers also conducted studies on the possible benefits of aromatherapy to promote better sleep and overcome insomnia. In a study among elderly people who have complained about difficulty in sleeping, the lavender aroma helped them put to sleep. Of course, our body needs a good sleep to help maintain proper functioning as well as helping it to rest.

Some aromatherapy sessions also include massage, which also enhances your relaxation. But it is important to note that the undiluted form of these essential oils can be harmful so when applying it to the skin during massage, these oils should be diluted.

Other known benefits of aromatherapy include relief from stress and anxiety. Aside from enhancing the mood, it also promotes balance as well as relief from discomforts we feel in our everyday lives. Aromatherapy is also said to boost the immune system. In some countries, it is also used to help in some circulation and digestive problems as well as problems related to menstruation and menopause. Those suffering from depression are also found to benefit from aromatherapy.

Although aromatherapy has lots of benefits, it is also important to keep in mind that it is not a cure of major illnesses. It may help in alleviating the symptoms but it is not a replacement of your medicines. It may help relieve pain but it cannot cure the root cause of the problem.

It is important to note though that essential oils used in aromatherapy are from natural sources, it does not mean they are always safe. If you are allergic to some natural substances, you may want to consult an expert on aromatherapy before engaging into aromatherapy sessions. If you have health issues like high blood pressure or diabetes, you should also consult experts before using any of the oils. Some essential oils may not also be fit for pregnant women. To get the best benefits of aromatherapy, it is best to be informed before going to aromatherapy sessions or before making your own aromatherapy blends.

The Most Common Symptoms Of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Posted under Health on Saturday 1 August 2009

There are a number of symptoms that characterize Irritable Bowel Movement. Most patients display mild symptoms while some have more serious forms. The good thing though with irritable bowel movement is that while it may vary from mild to severe, it would not advance to more serious intestinal diseases such as colitis or cancer. This is due to the absence of inflammation in the intestinal muscles and a number of other aggravating conditions.

Symptoms vary from intensity to frequency. However, among the most prominent symptoms that occur in nearly all cases is diarrhea and constipation or an alternation between the two.

Constipation is either characterized with loose and watery stool. However, it may also be that the stool is too compacted which prevents the release from the anus.

Meanwhile, diarrhea is the condition of increased frequency in bowel movement. It is also marked with incontinence of stool which is similar to inability to control or delay bowel movement. There are also sudden strong urges for bowel movement which if not immediately addressed will result to incontinence. Incomplete evacuation is also felt wherein the person feels the need for a second bowel movement immediately after the first one. The succeeding ones though will be more difficult to expel.

There are some conditions that are related with diarrhea. To be able to define it clearly, let us site into the common symptoms that diarrhea has.

Inconsistency of stools. This basis alone can not be an absolute definition for diarrhea. Judging by the fact that our diet affects the hardness or softness of our stool, we cannot solely rely on this judgement in determining if we are affected with the condition.

People who eat lots of vegetables, fruits and fibers normally have looser stools while those who don’t have harder ones. Liquid-like stools though which are beyond normal stools are considered diarrheal.

Frequency of bowel movement. There is no fixed numbers of bowel movement per week that would justify the normality of bowel movement. Three in a day is normal while three times a week, depending on the habit of a person may also be considered normal. Below that bar will signify the irregularity of bowel movement. Nevertheless, half of the general population practices the one-time-a-day habit as “regular clean-up”.

But it is known that among healthy people, the maximum number of bowel movements is five times a day. Therefor, once they exceed this number then that would only be the moment that they can be considered to have diarrhea.

Diarrhea develops from abnormal rate of water content in the stool. For normal digestion, food is kept in liquid form through the help of water secretion from the upper small intestines, stomach gallbladder and the pancreas. Undigested foods then reach the small and the large intestines in liquid form.

The lower small intestine will then absorb the water from the undigested food, which will then turn this into a less watery substance with form.

However due to a number of reasons, this process do not occur with diarrhea. It may be due to the over secretion of water from the distal end of the small intestine, efficient absorption does not occur, or the undigested or digested food pass the small and large intestine too quickly that there is not enough time for them to remove the water from the stool.

Diarrhea, in general, contributes largely to the development and worsening of Irritable Bowel Movement. Knowing the nature of this condition will help facilitate cure both for the symptom of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and the disorder itself.

Alternative Treatments For Your Excessive Sweating

Posted under Health on Saturday 1 August 2009

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, is a problem that many people suffer from. It is also something which is difficult to treat in that there is no particular treatment which has been set aside to treat the symptoms as well as the cause of excessive sweating.

Most drastically of course, surgery to stop yourself from sweating is one of the options taken by those who suffer from bouts of excessive sweating. These people are moved by burdens of emotional and mental stress in their everyday daily life to take such steps.

For the most part, you will also find that a person who resorts to this option is using it as a last resort, having first tried out just about everything they can find to cure themselves of their excessive sweating. In most cases however, they will find that most of the other methods available for sweat prevention do not work, or only work minimally.

Don’t however, think that surgery is the only option for those suffering from excessive sweating. There are other methods and these involve strong medications which can inhibit sweat production by the body, or as is mostly the case, will lead to a lessening of sweat production. These medications should only be taken under medical supervision as some people can have adverse reactions to them.

Some people however, find themselves unwilling to use either of these options, and will prefer instead using holistic approaches to dealing with their excessive sweating problem. These methods encompass not only herbal remedies and treatments but also such remedies and treatments as acupuncture, ayurveda and homeopathy.

The choice is clearly up to the person who is suffering but it should perhaps be noted here that anyone seeking help for excessive sweating through the path of holistic medication and treatments, should do so under the guidance of a trained practitioner of that particular branch of healing.

You will also want to keep in mind that if you suffer from a medical or health condition other than that of excessive sweating, this needs to be mentioned before obtaining treatment for your excessive sweating. In this way only will you be able to gain the full benefits of whatever method you are using to treat your excessive sweating, be it conventional medication, surgery, or holistic medications and treatments.

A person who suffers from excessive sweating will also, in many cases experience mental and emotional upheaval as a result of the social stigma that can be attached with such a condition. To avoid this, or better yet to deal with these problems as well, you might want to think about seeing a therapist.

Other than that, you will find that as a person who suffers from excessive sweating, you might also have to take extra precautions and measures to ensure that you feel comfortable enough to step outside with your head held high. And in the end this is all you really want to do.

Being A Senior Citizen Is No Reason To Avoid A Workout Program

Posted under Health on Friday 31 July 2009

Exercise or a workout program is a powerful tool against the physical effects of aging and it’s never too late to start. Being a senior citizen is no reason to avoid exercise, says University of Illinois professor of kinesiology Wojtek Chodzko-Zajko. In fact, any physical activity, like walking even if walking canes must be used, will benefit health. It’s important to “choose an activity that you will do,” whatever that is, the professor said. “It really matters less exactly what you do than it matters to avoid being completely sedentary.” A 1996 report from the U.S. Surgeon General indicates only about 15 percent of adults over 65 get a recommended level of physical activity and as many as one-third get no exercise at all, Chodzko-Zajko noted in an article he wrote for the journal Quest.

Chodzko-Zajko suggests that some people might benefit from strategies such as keeping a diary of all their physical activity, including even things like short walks to the store with their walking canes, doing housework or working in the garden. Seeing the diary with their activities written down may help motivate people to exercise because they will want to avoid days in which they have nothing to write. Another trick to encourage increased walking is getting a dog. The dog will insist on going out for a walk even if the owner might not be in the mood.

“Part of the problem may be that we’ve adopted a medical model of exercise, where exercise is sort of a bitter pill, and you get a prescription and you’re expected to stick to it,” Chodzko-Zajko said. “But the bottom line is it takes time to change behavior, and I personally feel the broader you can define your activity program, the less likely you are to become demoralized.”

Even seated exercise is beneficial. People who need mobility chairs can still benefit from exercise, although they may have to do it in a seated position. Many of those using mobility chairs have the use of their limbs, but use the chairs because they tire easily. Walking may not be a good exercise choice in this case but instead, they can try doing leg lifts in a seated position, for example. To increase the work load on the leg muscles, ankle weights can be added. Start with one pound per leg and start over at the lowest number of lifts.

Exercising the upper body is also important. This can also be done from a seated position if need be. Do a variety of arm exercises. Start with one pound weights at 10 repetitions per exercise. If you don’t own any weights, a can of peas from the kitchen is a good substitute. The important thing is to get-and keep-moving.

Anyone can tell you the benefits of exercise, but you will not realize its effectiveness in boosting mood, attitude, and morale until you try for yourself. Keep young by staying fit!

Keep Your Heart Healthy

Posted under Health on Friday 31 July 2009

You might be amazed at some of the simple things you can do to help reduce your risk of heart disease, artherosclerosis and blood clots, not to mention lowering your cholesterol and improving circulation. If you make an effort to do at least a couple of the following suggestions, you will keep your heart healthy.
1. OMEGA 3′S - (fish oil) - they provide blood thinning benefits without any side effects. Eat walnuts, mackerel fish or add ground flaxseeds to your oatmeal, salad or smoothie to reduce inflammation throughout your body including your heart. IF those do not appeal to you, take a good quality Omega 3 supplement - 1,000 mg. daily
2. B-COMPLEX- these vitamins are known to de-stress the body by supporting the adrenal glands, however, they also help to reduce your risk of heart disease. Sometimes we end up with too much of the amino acid homocysteine and B-complex vitamins help to scavenge this amino acid reducing your risk of heart disease.
3. TAKE GUM DISEASE SERIOUSLY - Gum disease can lead to an increase of pro-inflammatory bacteria in the blood which can trigger the liver to make more C-reactive proteins which is a risk for heart disease. Floss your teeth FIRST then brush twice a day and get your teeth cleaned at least every 6 months.
4. WHOLE GRAINS - The American Diabetes Association warns that people dealing with diabetes often end up with heart disease or suffer a stroke. It is so important to steer clear of white flour and sugar foods that spike blood sugar levels. Instead, choose whole grains, oats and whole foods at every meal.
5. LISTEN TO MUSIC - have you ever walked into one of those “nature” stores in the mall and felt immediately calm? Do what you can to de-stress your heart by listening to sounds of nature, handmade flutes, or take a Yoga class.
6. ORANGE BLOSSOM OIL - try adding this precious oil for a good-for-your-heart massage that will calm your heart.
7. LIMIT YOUR SALT INTAKE - The American Heart Association recommends no more than 2,400 mg. or 1 teaspoon of salt per day to reduce your blood pressure. Instead of using salt, jazz up recipes with herbs, spices and vinegars. Use low-sodium products whenever possible.
8. SMELL THE ROSES - roses really do help reduce stress levels by lifting your mood and calming tension. I can’t resist a bouquet of roses at the grocery store.
9. YLANG-YLANG -is an essential oil that quiets heart palpitations and puts you in the mood for love. Use it as aromatherapy or add it to your favorite massage oil.
10. CAYENNE PEPPER - contains capsaicin which improves circulation, lowers cholesterol and prevents blood clots. You can add it to your favorite recipes or stir in 1/2 tsp. into boiling water and sip - you will feel your hands, feet and heart get warm.

Take care of your heart and your heart will take care of YOU. I wish you glowing good health - always!

The One Rep Max Test For Bodybuilding Trainers

Posted under Health on Friday 31 July 2009

In intermediate and advanced stages of bodybuilding, it is important that you know what your one rep max is at almost weekly basis. This helps you track your progress as the one rep max keeps on rising. Without knowing whether or not you are gaining in mass and strength, it is impossible to determine your bodybuilding progress. One rep max is a simple and quick way of establishing whether you are stagnating or progressing encourse the bodybuilding program.

So if you then decide to establish what your one rep max is, you don’t just drop into the gym and start lifting up. There are a lot of variable that go into measuring the amount of weight we can lift at any given time. Such factors include:

1. Circulation efficiency at the time

2. Muscle status in terms of flexibility or rigidity

3. Body health

4. Breathing efficiency

5. Metabolism rate and efficiency at the time of lifting.

6. Temperature of the muscles and the body in general at the time of lifting, etc.

This article there fore gives a four step routine, not to measure your one rep max, but to prepare for the one rep max test.

Start out with the arms cycling exercise where you move your arms in a cyclic motion, forwards and backwards. Keep the arms straight out as you make at least twenty cycles for each direction. The idea is to loosen up the arms as a muscle group and to reduce tension in the shoulder joints. This should ideally be followed by the arm-rotation-cuff exercise. This helps to warm up both of your shoulder joints. Just stand with both arms held straight and parallel at the sides of the body. Then bend both elbows at an angle of 90 degrees. Begin movement by rotating the arms until the forearms point upwards. Continue to rotate the arms until the forearms point to the front. For this exercise, twenty to thirty rotations are enough.

Now is the time to perform several push-ups, ensuring that you stimulate the blood to flow into the muscle tissues in both arms. A couple of sets, five at most, should be enough. Each set should be about five or six reps so that the total number of push-ups tally at between twenty and thirty. It is very important that you control your pace and intensity, since you are not working out the muscles but stimulating circulation and boosting the metabolic preparedness of the arms ahead of the one rep max test. You intend that by the time you pick up the weights, your arms will be at the optimal fitness level, and this will help establish the true status of their strength. The movements also help to stimulate rigidity out of the elbow and shoulder joints in preparation of the weight lifting exercises that constitutes the one rep max determination test.

By this time, you are ready to pick up the weights. The body is at the optimal stability, flexibility, metabolic, circulatory status. Go on now and determine your one rep max, using any appropriate technique.

A Closer Look At The Energy Bar

Posted under Health on Friday 31 July 2009

The energy bar is often incorporated as a meal replacement for those either seeking to shed a few pounds, or those that may well be seeking the advantages of the energy bar in terms of an increased intake in protein, carbohydrates and fat. This is where a distinction between some of the products needs to be made, as a recent study has revealed that the energy bar, in most instances can take one of two main forms. The first being that of an equally and proportionally balanced amount of fat, protein and carbohydrates, whilst the second major categorization of this snack consisting mostly of protein and fat.

These two categorizations will in turn have an impact upon someone who may be on diet and seeking more protein than fat and carbohydrates, in which instance the latter category may be a better option, although he or she may seek out an energy bar that is more protein based than anything else. This stems from the fact that they may not wish to consume any fat whatsoever, or at least attempt to cut back on such consumption. Therefore the more active one is would perhaps determine which type of product to choose, and when someone is watching their dietary intake from either a weight loss or reduced carbohydrates intake perspective, then the second choice would seem to make sense.

Either way the energy bar, in whatever form or content, does make an extremely convenient snack, and arguably much better for you than the myriad amounts of fast and junk food that is so easily available. One of the main advantages of this type of food is also contained in its size and packaging, in that it can be placed in your pocket, handbag or whatever, allowing you easy access to this healthy snack whenever you need. The energy bar is also richer in vitamins and minerals than any of the other convenient snacks and fast foods that are easily available.

Based solely on the advantages of the energy bar, one should not at any time think that this will suffice as a meal in itself, or as a complete meal replacement. And although the health benefits of the contents of the product are beneficial they are lacking in certain other contents such as the phytochemicals that are commonly found in fresh fruits. Hence you can use the energy bar as an in between snack and it is better than the mentioned junk food, but should not be solely relied upon as a meal in itself. The energy bar offers a good balance of minerals and vitamins, as well as the benefits of protein, fats and carbohydrates where applicable. The energy bar is furthermore convenient and much better than the options of convenience and fast food meals, ensuring a good intake of vitamins and minerals.

The Energy bar is one of the healthier choices in terms of in between meals and snacks. Visit All Mall Shop for the widest range in supplements and healthy snacks at http://www.allmallshop.com/

If you are to purchase ready to eat cereals make sure that it contain at least five grams of fibers.

In case of gas pain you may also purchase over the counter anti-gas pills. And of course don’t forget to drink lots of fluids. If you can follow the recommended eight glasses of liquid per day then so much the better. In terms of fluids you may take in water, fruit juices and even decaf drinks.

Likewise, take note of the instances where you usually experience IBS symptoms. Keep a record of the food that you take in during that time and try not to eat them again. If you can keep a food diary to help you in controlling your IBS then do so.

If you are used to eating large servings of foods per meal then divide it into smaller meals instead. Drinking multi-vitamins as well as mineral supplement especially those with one hundred percent US prescribed (RDI or recommended daily intake) may also help in controlling IBS. But just like any type of medication it is important that you consult your doctor or your dietitian before taking in any medication. Same when taking in fiber supplement it is vital that you consult a doctor.

To avoid eating more try to eat your food slowly to digest the food well. Try to enjoy your food. And also refrain from drinking caffeinated and alcoholic beverages since they may cause diarrhea.

Posted under Health on Friday 31 July 2009

Meditation is a powerful tool to help us manage the many stress in life that is causing us health problems, anger, irritability, bad attitude. Too much stress also deprives us of being happy and it makes us looked tired everyday. To bring back the good energy in your life, maybe all you need is to learn how to meditate.

Managing stress in life may be as simple as grabbing a mat, finding a quiet place and meditating. You do not need to travel far, nor get an expensive vacation package. If you learn how to meditate, you will not only appreciate how it recharges your energy to tackle the tasks you have in life, but it will help you improve your concentration, your creativity and attain a calm and peaceful mind.

Here are the basic steps in starting with meditation.

- Preparation

Find a quiet place to do your meditation. Make sure the place has no possible distractions such as the temperature inside the room or mobile phones that might ring while you are on meditation. Position yourself in a sitting position that is comfortable. Make sure your back is straight and relaxed. You can also sit on cushions to help you feel comfortable. Also make sure that you are wearing something that is comfortable and not too tight that it might distract your breathing or the session.

Relax your shoulders as well and put your hands on your lap. If crossing your legs is not a very comfortable position for you, you can also sit on a chair but do not let your back reach the back of the chair to help you keep it straight.

- Motivation

Know your motivation. Understand why you want to meditate - if you want to learn how to meditate, you must have a motivation in mind - whether you want to relax or set free of negative emotions, overcome anger or you want to clear your mind, be specific in your motivation. This will guide you in what you want to attain with your meditation.

- Meditation

You can then proceed to meditation closing your eyes, relaxing your mind but staying awake. You can actually choose from two types of meditation. If you intend to clear and calm the mind, you can do the breathing meditation where you can focus your mind on your breathing. You can also do the contemplative or the analytical meditation where you focus on a certain thought in the form of words. For example, if you focus on happiness, you think about the word over and over and then bring into focus some images that may give meaning to the word - like a happy family, or a baby in your hand. Distractive thoughts may come into mind but do not pay attention to them. Bring back the focus of your thoughts to ‘happiness’ or the thought you intend to think.

- Dedication

After your meditation session, take time to think about your motivation you just have thought about at the start of the session. Dedicate your energy to your motivation so that results will come.

If you learn how to meditate, you will also learn to bring the positive energy into your daily activities. It is also good to practice meditation regularly to be able to get results.

Getting The Most Of Your Sports Nutrition Supplements

Posted under Health on Friday 31 July 2009

Sports nutrition supplements are used by a variety of participants in a variety of different sports, hobbies or pastimes. Some people choose to do bodybuilding, either on a personal or even professional level. This activity requires specific nutrition and intake of certain foods that is absolutely necessary to accomplish their goals in the gym. Some of the noted sports nutrition supplements that are most popular in the bodybuilding fraternity are products such as whey protein, which comes in variety of forms, such as powder or even liquid. Proteins are necessary for the growth and repair of the muscles that are focussed upon by the bodybuilder, and the sooner the muscles repair themselves the better, as they can then work on those muscles again. To further their strength, and endurance sports nutrition supplements such as creatines will be used to push their abilities to the next level.

In addition to bodybuilding, many professionals stand to benefit from the use of sports nutrition supplements, one needs only consider the tri athlete, who has to develop significant endurance and fitness levels in order to complete the three stages of a triathlon. Hence the issue of strength may not be as relevant to the tri athlete than that of the body building enthusiast, however the need for sports nutrition supplements is just as necessary for their goals and objectives of endurance and fitness, versus that of higher strength requirements. If one has to move away from triathlons and consider the golfer, one might wonder how this could be compared from a sports nutrition supplements perspective. Well the answer here is that the golfer requires more strength when driving the golf ball down the fairway. By increasing their strength, and their accuracy which incidentally is beyond the help of supplementation, the golfer effectively reduces the overall length of their game, and hopefully fewer shots resulting in a high scoring game.

Considering the sport of tennis, where the players playing in tournaments week in and week out, almost for the entire year, one cannot help but to wonder where they draw the strength and energy for such consistent participation in these tournaments. Well the answer lies in their fitness levels, as well as their intake of sports nutrition supplements, which are required for strength, fitness and endurance where necessary. The vast majority of professional sports people utilise a proven training routine, together with a well constructed eating plan, enhanced by sports nutrition supplements in order to achieve their high levels of performance and achievement in their chosen sport.

The majority of sports nutrition supplements are naturally occurring products which are already found in the human body, however those that exert themselves more and push themselves further in terms of their limits have a higher demand of their bodies, which in turn are fuelled by products that provide such nutrition to the human body.

Sports Nutrition Supplements offer the added advantage of boosting both the function and abilities of the sports persons abilities. Visit Sport and Supplements at http://www.sportandsupplements.com for the widest range of supplements available.
