Laser Hair Removal a Fast Growing Career Field

Posted under Beauty on Monday 31 March 2008

With laser hair removal becoming more affordable and therefore more popular, laser hair removal training is also growing in popularity as young people take up the trade in search of interesting new careers.

This popularity can be seen in the number of laser hair removal schools that are now available. Part of its attraction is that the trade can be picked up relatively quickly with jobs available all around the world from high-class plastic surgery clinics in upscale towns to small-town day spas.

Why Laser Hair Removal School

With increasing admiration of the human form in today’s society, hair is something that is seen as getting in the way. Furthermore, men and women have been shaving body hair for centuries from exposed parts of their bodies, as a hairless form has long been considered more attractive.

One only needs to look at ancient Roman and Greek nude sculptures to see that, even then, a hairless body was considered desirable. This continues to be especially true in modern-day western societies.

Men and women who tire of shaving or plucking have longed for a permanent solution. After about 20 years of experimenting, laser hair removal became commercially available to the masses starting in the mid 1990’s.

Laser hair removal has grown substantially in popularity in recent years, resulting in a growing need for laser hair removal training institutions to help meet the demand for qualified technicians.

Because it is a skilled trade that requires specific training, the demand for laser hair removal technicians is high enough to warrant competitive pay. It is becoming a popular career track, with laser hair removal schools becoming a viable alternative to those who shun college.

Lacking a college education has both pros and cons. The obvious pro is that a person is able to focus solely on the specific trade she will be practicing once entering the workforce. Graduates from a laser hair removal school can be hired by commercial institutions with the knowledge that the graduate is skilled in her trade, and hasn’t spent time studying anything that might detract from her laser hair removal training.

As demand grows, the time to attend laser hair removal schools is now while demand for qualified technicians is at a peak.

What to Look for in a School

As with all things, anywhere trends are high there are sure to be those in it to get in, make a quick buck, then get out. There is no exception to this rule with laser hair removal schools. If you’re not careful, you can very well end up in a school that will be more than happy to certify you in exchange for tuition, but put you out into the workforce without any actual supervised experience, leaving you unprepared to face the challenges of the real world.

Look for a school that offers:

- Hands-on experience
- Career counselors to help you find work
- Teaches you not just how to work the equipment, but the technology behind the equipment
- Stresses safety — you are shooting lasers at people’s bodies after all

You may even want to consider talking to various clinics to see if they have recommendations on which school they prefer their employees attend.

Non-Surgical Procedure is a Treatment Without the Surgery

Posted under Beauty on Sunday 30 March 2008

Often times you’ll hear the phrases “non-surgical” and “non-invasive” thrown around when discussing cosmetic surgery. But is it possible to have surgery without having surgery? The answer is somewhat complex, and much of it depends on your personal feelings and views of what constitutes surgery.

Surgery, at its most basic, is the removal, repair, or replacement of body organs or tissue, or, quite literally, going under the knife. When an incision is placed in your body and later the stitched is closed-that’s surgery. For many people, this is a terrifying event, especially when done voluntarily for cosmetic purposes. Consequently, people who are dissatisfied with an aspect of their appearance may choose to simply deal with it rather than take the risks associated with surgery.

Today, advancements in medical technology have made non-surgical or non-invasive techniques possible. Some procedures, even as complicated as facelifts, can be done by using alternative methods to scalpels and stitches.

Following are the popular non-surgical procedures that people choose to undergo.

Lasers
Lasers, for example, are an increasingly popular method of skin rejuvenation. Beams of light pulsate across the surface of your skin, removing wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and acne. You won’t need to be put under anesthesia, and the recovery time is usually far shorter than that of traditional surgery. Some types of laser treatments are even referred to as “lunch break” procedures. This means that they are so painless and quick that you can be finished and ready to show your face in a short period of time.

Injectables
Another type of non-surgical procedure is facial injection. Although there is an element of invasiveness, like lasers they are also done quickly and without the need for anesthesia or medications. Common ones include Botox and Restylane. Injections fill in wrinkles, crevices, and can plump up lips and hollows under eyes and cheeks.

Hair Removal
Removing unwanted hair permanently has become increasingly popular and is more effective than ever. Laser treatments are now available and have been used with some success, but the longest-lasting is still the process of electrolysis. A thin piece of metal is slid into the follicle and a small jolt of electricity zaps it, damaging it just to the amount required to cease the new hair growth. There will be some pain and discomfort during the process, but little to none afterwards.

Facelift
Non-surgical facelifts use a combination of other procedures to achieve similar effects to a traditional facelift. Most frequently, lasers, injectables, and chemical peels are used in conjunction to combat wrinkles and treat skin tone and texture. It won’t be able to remove excess skin or tighten certain areas, but for those looking for facial refinement and a more youthful look, it is a viable alternative.

Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a form of skin rejuvenation. They are applied to the skin’s surface and can help remove the top layers, revealing the new, undamaged skin cells that lie beneath. With repeated treatments, they can banish blemishes that hide deep within the skin layers.

Although non-surgical procedures can’t enhance your breast-size or give you a smaller nose, they are a possible alternative for those looking for a subtle procedure without fear of the operating room.

Silicone Breast Implants - Still Acceptable and Popular after a Comeback

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

There is a continuing controversy over the safeness of silicone breast implants, so much so that in 1992 they were banned from being used in the United States except in certain reconstruction cases. In 2006, the ban was lifted and silicone became available to the general public once again.

The trouble started when women began voicing concerns over the effects of implant rupture and leakage. Reports began circulating that the leakage of the silicone gel was contributing to cancer, lupus, and other immune system disorders.

Unlike saline, silicone is not a natural substance found in the body. When a saline breasts ruptures, the water is simply absorbed into the body and the deflation is noticeable within one or two days. Silicone implants have a gel-like consistency, making leaks slow and difficult to detect, potentially causing long-term damage. Replacement of implants also increases the possibility of complications.

While leaking is a risk to be concerned about, the FDA has found no direct correlation between silicone surgery and the medical problems they purportedly create. Before allowing the implants back on the market, the FDA conducted a study, following women with silicone over the course of three years and monitoring their health with MRIs. After concluding that there was no definitive evidence about silicone implants causing excessive harm, they gave permission to two companies to begin producing them again.

So how safe is silicone surgery? Although silicone leaks can cause damage in the body, the best preventative measure is regular checkup and implant replacement after ten or more years. An MRI will be mandatory every two years according to FDA guidelines. There will also be a $1,500 to $2,000 dollar extra fee for all patients who opt for silicone over saline.

But it seems as if the pros outweigh the cons. Many women find that silicone implants feel and look more natural. Although now they may cost a small fortune, as not only is there an extra fee for the surgery, MRIs are costly and according to some sources, often ineffective in detecting problems. But the lust of getting a natural-looking bust makes silicone implants quite popular. Only part that can make you thing is to shell out the cash and time to follow the FDA’s aftercare checklist.

Fortunately, there is a bright spark on the horizon. A new kind of silicone gel is being tested and may soon be widely available in the market. It is often referred to as the “gummy bear” because the gel has a thick, sticky consistency. When ruptured, these new implant remains solid and won’t leak like regular silicone. It is slighter harder than regular saline, but it may prove to be the best of both worlds-safe and natural. It also maintains its shape better throughout the years. The downside is that it cannot be used with all types of breast augmentation incisions as it is large and solid.

Ultimately, it is up to you to do the research and decide if you feel silicone is a viable option for breast enhancement. There are risks associated with every procedure, so in the end it is best to choose what you feel most comfortable with.

Palmdale breast implants

What Can Be Done About The Problem Of Cellulite?

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

A curse to many women, cellulite is formed close to the skin surface, producing wrinkled fat cells intermixed with the connective tissue that gives that strange ‘orange peel’ effect witnessed by many; it is generally found in the lower half of the body. This is not a situation purely confined to those who carry excess weight; this condition even affects slim women who have fewer fat cells.

The fats just below the skin surface push against the tissue which results in the skin surface having that dimpled look common of cellulite. The real cause of is unknown so is the reasons why some women are more prone to suffering with it than others but scientists believe that it could be due to the way the cells are structured beneath the skin of each individual.

This problem usually comes naturally with aging and similar to wrinkles that form in the face, it is actually the result of lower levels of collagen and elastin in the skin. It is classified as a hormonal imbalance experienced by women and seldom appears on males as normally fat stored in the thighs and buttock is the same as fat stored all over the body so no difference is observed.

Often the cellulite goes unnoticed and it is only when a person’s muscles are compressed or the skin is pinched that it can be seen and felt but women should not feel depressed about the problem as most suffer with it to a greater or lesser degree. Although it may not be known what causes, some factors seem to contribute to its build up including age, sex, extra fat carried and skin thickness all seem to aid the formation.

As medical science cannot prove conclusively what causes the problem, it makes it difficult creating a cure even though a number have been tried including special burning creams. Where cellulite removal massage is offered at a clinic, all that is done is deep tissue massage which just masks the affect so it cannot be seen as readily.

Another technique used to remove the fat cells, but not that successfully, is liposuction which is used to remove excess fat in the body but a method called mesotherapy which injects chemicals into the fat cells is still too expensive for most people who desire it. The problem with liposuction is not really the correct therapy for removing this type of fat but is for deeper fats, not those stuck in connective tissue, so it cannot claim to be a best treatment for cellulite.

A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. Although no treatment can really help, adjustments to lifestyle habits seem to be a better option which means adopting a healthy diet, with regular physical activity and an overall reduction in weight.

In addition, increasing the intake of water will help cleanse the system and flush out damaging toxins plus smokers should stop smoking or at least reduce it which will also be beneficial as smoking impacts negatively on the capillaries in the skin and reducing stress will help reduce the amount of cellulite.

How to Avoid Fake Sunglasses on EBay

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

Every decent seller of genuine sunglasses is alarmed by the number of eBay members who sell fake sunglasses. There’s more to that, many of these replica vendors have a feedback value of over 90%. There are a few well known techniques used by these vendors to raise their reputation, for example they can sell a few hundreds e-books for a cent or two each. It’s being addressed by eBay at the moment. For now they just get away with ripping people off. So I thought to help you in avoiding bidding for replicas on eBay. If you follow my tips you will greatly minimize the chances of buying a fake.

1. Most official resellers who sell genuine sunglasses would let you know that what they are selling is authentic. So look for guaranteed authenticity.

2. Brand new sunglasses are always packed in a box and supplied with cleaning back and warranty card. Don’t trust any seller who doesn’t provide those items. The one and only case a seller can lack some of these items is when the sunglasses are not brand new and that cant be a good deal anyway. The vendor is highly unlikely to have a good explanation in any other situation.

3. Authentic sunglasses package usually has labels on every item supplied in it. For example Oakley has the “Genuine O Software” label sewn on the cleaning box.

4. Since many fraud sellers are aware of what a buyer is going to look at first, they try to either fake a box supplied or use a box from a different model. Check the barcode to match the sunglasses. I’ve seen many replicas packed in original boxes, which had barcode labels torn off.
5. Another good replica indicator is the price. It shouldn’t be far away from the average eBay value. For example, usually Oakley sunglasses are sold for over 50 USD. Anything below this price should be treated more carefully.

6. In the age of Internet every sunglasses company has its own website. You should take advantage of it. Browse the official website and make sure the model listed on eBay matches official one in color. It’s amazing how many vendors sell wrong colored sunglasses.

7. Make sure that the vendor doesn’t use official photos. Well, in that case you should ask to email you a few real photos. When you get the pictures, look carefully for anything unusual. Avoid any stickers on the glasses or either of the lenses. Fraud vendors build fake authority by doing that. Don’t buy it!

8. You can safely skip any item with words like “-style” in the title. That word is just screaming that it’s a fake item.

9. I’ve seen quite a few vendors who list models which don’t actually exist. So check the model against official websites.

10. If you’re not sure about authenticity of the sunglasses you’ve bought, get them checked by manufacturer. Most of them provide this service totally free if you mail your glasses to their head office. Also any official dealer would verify the sunglasses for you as well.

11. My last tip is to ask the seller if something is not clear for you in the listing. Official vendors won’t avoid providing authenticity proof. Don’t bid if the seller doesn’t reply to request like that.

The Great Classic Plimsoll Debate

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

Sports shoes are, these days, a whole multi-million pound industry with laboratories, institutes and technologies all their own. What’s wrong with the good old plimsoll is what I say.

That first day at school, where the smell of rubber plimsolls permeated everything including your lunch is an experience that kids these days just don’t get. They’re more concerned with whether they are wearing the right sports shoe according to the fashion stakes than anything else.

So, let’s take a look at the modern day sports shoes and see how the old fashioned plimsoll compares. Shock absorption is an important aspect of the modern day sports shoe, according to scientists. Have these people seen the rubber bumper you get round the toe of a plimsoll? You can kick a chair leg or stub your toe on any pointy surface and this little rubber bumper absorbs all the shock. The plimsoll is the inspiration behind many a fairground ride.

Lightness is another aspect athletes want from a sports shoe to make them go faster. Plimsolls are made of lightweight fabric without all the extra added gizmos. Personally, I think this is mind over matter. Put a go faster stripe on the side and they’ll think they can run faster, no matter how heavy the trainer. And let’s face it, just how heavy can they get?

Stability. How about stability? I’ve been completely trolleyed in these plimsolls of mine and stood upright longer than any drunk in a modern sports shoe. It’s something to do with that amazing rubber grip on the bottom. Once on, they ain’t going anywhere. Not that easy to detach once they have that one way grip on your skin but they’re stability on the feet of a self confessed alcoholic are beyond compare.

Durability is something I don’t understand being called for in today’s sports shoes. According to recent studies, trainers need to last a maximum of 2.4 weeks before they become obsolete and are replaced with a newer model. God forbid anyone should be seen out in the old version. You’ll know the embarrassed individuals who are struggling to keep up - they’re the ones with their feet tucked under their seats in a bid to keep their hideous footwear hidden.

Styling is something that determines your place in sports shoe society and plimsoll manufacturers are well aware of this. Hence their different designs. You can have lace up or elastic fastening, black or white, large rubber strips covering the toe or a simple bumper. We have choice - what more is needed? That’s the trouble with the generation of today - too much choice.

Emerging into my early puberty, this was the time when no-one would be seen dead in trainers that looked like they were new. Heaven only knows the ridicule one would receive being seen out in brilliant white sports shoes! Nowadays, it’s all about the whiteness, the brighter the better. Of course, if you keep up with the 2.4 week scenario, dirty trainers are not something you will suffer with but for the rest of us, plimsolls are well ahead of the game with ’shoe whitener’ that we can paint on, bringing footwear back to its original condition.

And now we have the ‘on road’ and ‘off road’ sports shoes. What the hell! Do the off roaders come with mud guards and a customised shoe horn for extracting your feet from mud pools? Or the ‘on roaders’ with a licence plate and tax disc holder?

Of course, with all manner of clothing and footwear, there are age distinctions. There comes a time when the classic black plimsoll with elastic strap across the foot just has to give way to the Dunlop Greenflash that your dad wears. But you won’t regret this - comfort replaced with comfort, there is no way to go wrong.

Sports expert Catherine Harvey looks at how trends change with sports shoes and if there really have been improvements.

FDA Approved Uses and Off-Label Uses for Botox

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

Turn on the television or open-up a magazine today and there staring back at you is likely an advertisement for botox. It seems like a day doesn’t pass without me hearing about this treatment and the wonders it can do for facial wrinkles and other minor imperfections that I might want to get rid of. However, while botox treatment is “non-surgical” it does come with some inherent risks. Additionally, doctors today are using it for all sorts of “off-label” uses which can easily increase your risks if you aren’t careful.

Why was Botox approved by the FDA?

Botulinum is a neurotoxin which was approved by the FDA in 1989 for treating crossed eyes and eyelid tics. Surprisingly, Botulinum is on the list of Homeland Security’s list of potential agents of bioterrorism because of its powerful neurotoxicity. However, it’s this same property which makes it effective in the fight against wrinkles, when used in a safe and controlled environment.

With the initial FDA approval of Botulinum for crossed eyes and eyelid tics, it opened up a whole new world of what are referred to as “off-label” uses. When the FDA approves a drug for use, it also gives physicians a liberal usage of that substance for other uses which are not the ones which it was approved for. This is referred to as “off-label” usage.

The Most Popular Off-Label Uses for Botox

Because botox works by paralyzing muscles and thus relieves muscle spasms, it’s most common off-label uses include treatments for neck pain, back pain, bladder spasms, migraine headaches, and many other ills caused by muscle contractions. It was from some of these uses that the correlation between wrinkle removal and botox was born.

The 2002 Botox Approval for Glabellar Lines

In 2002, the FDA approved Botulinum for cosmetic surgery was used to treat glabellar lines, or wrinkles which form between the eyebrows. Many patients remain unaware about the temporary effects of the procedure that ensures repetitive treatment necessity. While this caused a surge in popularity of the drug, it also opened up door to many plastic surgeons and other physicians working with botox for other similar off-label uses, such as forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, lip area wrinkles and even those on the neck.

Botulinum is a fast moving drug benefiting both the doctors and manufacturers. The main problem with off-label usage of any drug is that the long-term studies have not been conducted to prove that they are safe. So, while patients are flocking to their plastic surgeons to get botox injections to alleviate their entire facial and neck wrinkles, it has only been approved by FDA to treat glabellar lines. Thus it can be used in a very limited amount. The jury is still out on the long-term issues which may be caused by using more of the substance than it was approved for. For this single reason, you should always think long and hard when you are considering botox injections for yourself. It is always better to error on the side of caution than to overdo it.

Washington DC Botox treatment options help reduce facial lines and wrinkles with utmost ease. Understand the FDA approved and off-label usage of botox at center for plastic surgery before considering the treatment and make a wise decision. You can visit http://www.cpsdcos.com for more details.

What You Need to Understand When Having Laser Hair Removal

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

Most women hate to have hair on their legs and underarms. Men too are also starting to become interested in hair removal, especially those who are athletes. However most hair removal methods aren’t all that effective. They are either very painful or the results aren’t long lasting. However more and more new hair removal methods are being developed which give much better results.

People hate often hate the hair on their body so much that they go to salons for the hair to be professionally removed. You will notice that there are loads of beauty salons in the area you live and that offer such treatments. This just proves that there must be a large demand for hair removal. Some people who are looking for permanent hair removal have tried electrolysis which is a piece of equipment that uses electrical currents to damage the follicle’s of your hair. The problem is that many of those who have tried it found the treatment uncomfortable.

So it’s no wonder that when laser hair removal came onto the market that it has become very popular way to remove hair from your body. Basically it works by using a beam of light which prevents the hair from growing. Normally you can expect the results to either be permanent or at the very least, the hairs will become lighter or finer. You may feel a slight discomfort but overall the treatment is not painful.

You might think that laser hair removal is the most ideal way to remove unwanted hair from your body but you need to understand that there are some limitations to this technique. First of all you need to realize that those with fair skin tend to achieve the most desirable results. This means also, that those with dark skins tend to not get as good results. However this doesn’t mean that dark skinned people can’t use the treatment. All it means is that you will probably need some more treatments than those with light skin. If you discus this with your beauty therapist they will be better equipped to advise you about this.

Another thing you need to understand before having laser hair removal treatments is that it’s important that you don’t have a tan. This is because of the pigment in the skin so make sure that you allow your tan to fade before having laser hair removal. Although this treatment isn’t the cheapest on the market, you may feel that it’s worth it if it means you don’t have to wax or shave again. This means you will save both time and money.

Radiesse Following in the Footsteps of Botox to Treat Wrinkles

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

The FDA has recently approved Radiesse, dermal filler, as an alternative cosmetic procedure for the eradication of facial folds and wrinkles.

It has rapidly gained momentum here in the United States as the new standard for treatment to facial wrinkles. It follows in the wake of the vanguard of injectables, Botox, and other similar plastic surgery techniques currently popular with the clientele searching for ways to appear more youthful.

The two primary selling features of this newer dermal filler are its cost effectiveness and lower risk as compared to other related cosmetic treatments available on the market.

A major advantage to using Radiesse is that the patient isn’t required to undergo an extensive allergy testing regimen prior to the administration. The reason for this is that the constituents found in Radiesse are similar in structure to those found in the human body. Thus, no immune response is triggered and the costly allergen testing is eliminated.

Radiesse utilizes a microspheres technology in its make up. These microspheres contain synthetic calcium hydoxylapatite which are suspended in a water-based gel matrix of carboxymethylcellulose. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a natural component of human bone and teeth.

The compound carboxymethylcellulose is routinely used as a thickening agent and is found in such familiar items as toothpaste and ice cream. It has been shown that the microspheres in Radiesse are safely and naturally reabsorbed by the human body

Besides the elimination of allergen testing, it is important to note that individuals that have undergone a Radiesse treatment have reported positive results with less office visits.

Clinical studies have shown that the desirable effects of this procedure can last for a year or more depending on the individual. The patient may experience a savings in time and money with less office visits.

Radiesse is not a newcomer in the arena of plastic surgery. For a number of years this product has been utilized worldwide in a variety of prosthetic implants used in dental, facial and orthopedic surgeries.

One unique attribute of this dermal filler is its ability to stimulate collagen production at the site of administration. Studies have found that new collagen gradually replaces the synthetic compound over time as it is reabsorbed by the body. The total replacement of Radiesse by new collagen is complete in about three months.

Another important clinical finding is that this compound also provides facial volume to counteract some feature of the aging process.

The actual procedure itself is simple to perform and minimally invasive. A mild local anesthetic is used to numb the area before procedure. The numbing effect of the anesthetic normally wears off within a half hour. The drug is then administered to the site via injection.

The lingering effects of the procedure are reported to be minimal and there will be some slight swelling due to the expansion of the facial tissue. This is normally resolved within a day.

None of the patients that were interviewed have complained about any long term pain. Patients can resume normal activities within just a few short hours. However, there are certain things that one should avoid for at least 48 hours after the procedure is performed such as strenuous laughing, drinking through a straw, and singing.

Before selecting this type of treatment, it is imperative that the patient do the appropriate research to ensure that the physician that they select is qualified to perform this procedure.

Cosmetic Surgery: Is it Right for Teens?

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

Cosmetic surgery is not just an adult’s luxury. It is not uncommon for a teen to ask for some type of procedure for a birthday or graduation instead of the latest cell phone or a trip to the beach. How did this happen? Think back; remember how difficult those teen years were. The most important thing is to fit in, which often means conforming to the ideal version of the cheerleader, the prom queen or the jock. Yes, as an adult, we know the changes are superficial, but to a teen, it can mean the difference in being popular or being an outcast.

The most popular procedures are breast reduction among boys, rhinoplasty and ear pinning. The reasons for their popularity are obvious. But, before you agree to fulfill your teen’s dream of acceptance by letting him or her have cosmetic surgery, it is important to talk to them and find out what their motivations are. Are they being teased because the ears stick out or because the nose is too big? Or, do they simply assume that people are making fun of their looks? As a boy, the locker room can be quite intimidating, especially if he doesn’t have an athletic build. But, it is quite possible that there are bigger underlying issues that have nothing to do with the superficial and a change to the outside may not fix what’s wrong on the inside. After talking with your teen, additional counseling may be necessary to address the psychological issues.

Not only are there psychological issues to address, there are age limitations too. The body is still growing throughout the teen years. Different areas grow at different rates so certain procedures have age recommendations. Breast implants are not approved for patients lesser than 18 years of age unless it is for reconstructive reasons as a result of disease or disfigurement. Rhinoplasty is not recommended until 15 or 16 for girls. Boys should wait another year to ensure growth is complete. While your teen may think they look awkward and disproportionate, give their body time to finish growing before considering surgical alterations.

Also, you want to make sure your teen is mature enough to handle a surgical procedure. Some cosmetic procedures have an extensive recovery time. The swelling, bruising and pain may be too traumatic for an immature teen. Make sure you and the surgeon discuss in great detail what to expect before, during and after surgery to allow your teen to mentally prepare. They may think that they have researched it enough on the Internet, but a consultation with an actual doctor will be their best source of information.

Don’t forget the risks that are involved in any type of surgical procedure. There is always a chance that the body will have an adverse reaction to the anesthesia, general or local. Always verify the credentials of the surgeon and make sure he is board certified to perform the procedure. This is your child and you would not to take any chances with their health. Decide together if cosmetic surgery will help boost your teen’s self-esteem and confidence and that the benefits outweigh the risks.

The last thing you should do is give in to tears and pleading from your teen and jump in to this blindly. If given careful consideration, cosmetic surgery can be a positive event for your teen and bring his or her out of the shell. Their inner beauty can shine when they feel better about their outer beauty.

TUBA: A Unique Breast Enhancement Procedure

Posted under Beauty on Saturday 29 March 2008

The TUBA Breast Implant Procedure - Do you know what the number one cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the United States today is? Would you be surprised to learn that it is breast enhancement? It is true. More women have undergone breast enhancement surgery than any other plastic surgery to date.

Breast Enhancement Basics

The two breast implant options for women to choose from today include saline filled and silicone gel filled breast implants. The implant option a woman and her plastic surgeon choose depends largely on the size of the woman as well as the desired shape of her breasts post-operation. While the saline option allows for the implant to be increased and decreased in size, the silicone gel filled option allows for a more natural look and feel of the breast.

The Trans-Umbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) Procedure

One of the most popular options for breast augmentation today is the trans-umbilical breast augmentation procedure, more commonly referred to as TUBA. With the TUBA option, an incision is made through the belly button of the patient. This is unique because generally with the other available breast enhancement surgery options, the incision is made in the bust or armpit area.

With the TUBA procedure, once your plastic surgeon has made the incision in your belly button, they then tunnel up through you chest area. Through this tunnel they feed a deflated saline implant. Once the implant is in position, either in front of or behind the chest muscle, the implant is inflated with saline solution.

The biggest advantage of the TUBA procedure is that the recovery time is much less than for a traditional bust augmentation surgery. Additionally, the procedure results in less visible scars on the body. The biggest disadvantage to the procedure is that there is an increased chance of the implant being punctured in the installation and leaking.

Caring For Your Body after TUBA

Caring for your body after the TUBA procedure requires you wearing a special sports bra to provide support for your new bust implants. Additionally, you will need to take care in the physical activities you perform for the following weeks. Too much exercise or work out can be avoided till the time you recover fully.

Finding a Qualified Plastic Surgeon in Your Area

Clearly the most important part of your decision to have a bust enhancement is finding a qualified plastic surgeon in your area to perform your surgery. To locate a plastic surgeon in your area who is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, you can call a local hospital or call the American Board of Plastic Surgery directly for referral.

Once you have located a qualified plastic surgeon in your area, you will want to schedule a consultation appointment with them to determine your candidacy for enhancement surgery. A plastic surgeon can spend time with you and evaluate both your mental and physical well-being and give you their qualified opinion on whether bust enhancement is right for you. Knowing all the benefits of the surgery as well as the care needed post-operation would be advantageous for you. The surgeon may instruct you to follow the complete health and maintenance chart depending on the criticality of the operation.
